A/B testing two QR posters: do it once, do it right
The question “which poster is better” usually gets settled by taste. It could be settled with numbers instead — as long as you set it up so the numbers do not lie.
Test one thing at a time
Either the line above the code, or the code size, or the photo, or the call to action. Change everything at once and get a better result, and you will not know what worked — next time you are guessing again.
How to split it fairly
Two different codes for two versions, and both standing in equal conditions. You cannot put version A by the entrance and B by the restroom: people near the entrance simply walk more. Best is a matching spot in two different zones, then swap the versions after a week.
What to look at and how long to wait
Not scan percentages, but the share of people who, after scanning, actually did the thing. A hundred scans with no order is not a win. And do not decide on day one: until you have a few hundred scans per version, the difference may just be luck.
